These two things make a REAL difference to your energy levels

There is SO much noise about what to eat and what not to eat.
But I like to keep things simple, I work with knackered people after all.
I don't spend hours in the kitchen and I don't expect you to either.
During my almost 6 years of being a Nutritional Therapist, these are the TWO things that make the biggest difference in my clients' energy levels:

1) Make sure you're getting enough protein
Yes, I know you know this, but are you doing it?
I don't want anyone weighing food, or calculating protein amounts (let's not suck all the joy out of life!)
Do this instead:
Aim for 20g of protein per main meal. This looks like:
3 whole eggs
1 can of drained chickpeas or lentils
1 tin of sardines/mackerel/salmon/tuna
120g of feta cheese
200g full fat Greek yoghurt
95g of almonds
85g of chicken
75g of beef
105g of salmon
I get so much feedback from clients about the difference this makes to their energy levels, often in a matter of days.
2) Pack in those plants
You know the drill - 30 plants a week and eat the rainbow. It's all about variety, not volume.
Fibre fills you up, helps stop cravings and keeps you regular.
And polyphenols (plant chemicals) feed your friendly gut bugs and provide lots of lovely nutrients for energy production and brain function.
Here are some easy ideas:
Frozen mixed berries instead of 1 type
Frozen mixed veg
Ground nut and seed mix in pouches sprinkled on yoghurt/porridge
Mixed bags of peppers
Add spices to yoghurt/porridge - ginger, cinammon, nutmeg
You could boost your breakfast to 10-12 plants just by changing your berries, and adding nuts, seeds and spices!
